After a two hour ferry trip, we arrived on the Malaysian island of Langkawi. We left the port and headed across the road to a KFC as we needed some WiFi (and some of the Colonel’s delicious original recipe chicken seasoned with his trademark 11 herbs and spices).  £2 for a meal? Yes please.

Aftertwards, we went to check out the giant eagle statue and then walked up the road to a mall.

The entire island of Langkawi is duty-free so there are a lot of liquor and chocolate shops everywhere (the booze is cheap but the imported chocs are actually more expensive than back home). We spent some time looking around before catching a Grab to our hotel.

That night, we headed over to a night market in search of some tasty Malaysian street food.

The next morning, we ventured over to the west of the island to take a ride on the Langkawi SkyCab.

This is a cable car system that takes passengers to the peak of Gunung Machinchang where you can walk along a sky bridge. Admission tickets were around £11 each but it’s totally worth it; the views from the top of the mountain were phenomenal.

The sky bridge cost an extra £1 and was a short walk away.

Again, the views from here were amazing! The sections of glass floor panels were a particular highlight for me (but definitely not for Siw).

Also included in the ticket price was entry into the 3D art museum. We had way too much fun here...

We were only here for one full day but it was a nice introduction to Malaysia. We’re really looking forward to Penang, Ipoh and KL!
